Party Pest 12" launch

Party Pest release debut album “Uninvited”, a riotous collection of post-punk sing-a-long earworms. Described as sounding like “Sleater-Kinney and the B52s had a weird baby”, the band began in 2017 playing their first gig at a salacious 69th birthday bash. Gaining the support of local record label legends Psychic Hysteria and internationally renowned French label Beast Records, who teamed up to release “Uninvited”.

With all 3 singles getting loads of airplay love from RRR, PBS and 4ZZZ, Party Pest are beyond ecstatic to be releasing the full album into the wild where it belongs. The album will be launched on 20th April at Shotkickers, Thornbury with support from their favourite destroyers of heteronormativity, AKA the queer punks of Hetslayer, along with party starters Made Austria, our very own hard rock metal acapella trio.

Guaranteed best night of your life or your money back (not really), this album launch is for all you lovers of punk, in its post, pre, pure and patriarchy -smashing finest fighting form.

Mystery Guest - www.mysteryguestmelb.bandcamp.com
After the 2020 release of the synth-heavy pop debut “Octagon City” through Tenth Court, Mystery Guest emerge from lockdown with a new, stripped back sound. Combining lush harmonies and jazz sensibilities, they continue to explore themes of love and spirituality under capitalism, and the “manifesto” as a musical directive.
Get your tix via Oztix - $5 plus booking fee. Doors are at 3pm, with music from 4pm 'til 6pm.

This event will take place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. The artists pay respects to Wurundjeri elders past and present. We also wish to extend our respect to all first nations people upon whose land we live and work. This is stolen land and sovereignty has never been ceded.

*Leaps and Bounds Music Festival 2021 at The Tramway Hotel*

- Saturday arvos at the Tramway will be a place to experience and hear new music at two very different places in the creative cycle. This is a chance to hear music from two unique and much-loved acts on either side of a record release, a pivotal point and achievement for any artist and their songwriting evolution.

July 17 will see a performance from Claire Birchall with music off her most recent release ‘Running In Slow Motion’ (It Records) where we experience music at the other end, music that has been shaped, produced and recently released into the world.

The following Saturday on July 24, audience members get a sneak peek and performance of the next Hearts and Rockets release - music before it has a chance to go through the process of recording and production, songs not quite solidified before being immortalised inside a studio setting.

Double Vanity - Escalator single and video launch

Double Vanity and The Burrow Underground team together to launch a new single and video concept titled ‘Escalator’.  Local performance artist and painter Billi Lime and Melbourne born, New York based filmmaker Stephanie Gould met for one day and within 24 hours the two artists armed with the song’s lyrics, music and photographs, filmed a kaleidoscope of visuals. Stephanie then returned to NYC to remotely edit the footage, while the band and collaborators isolated during lockdown.

With launches and exhibitions cancelled during lockdown making it difficult to present this new work, The Burrow Underground stepped in with an online launch concept; a streamed YouTube watch party of the film clip and a physical shopfront window presentation of the clip and artwork for Yarra wanderers. The Burrow Underground have been exploring new ways to platform the work of local independent creatives and facilitate community connection through arts experiences, and the establishment of their new website, subscription platform and online channel will coincide with the Escalator launch.

1:30pm-7:30pm – The Burrow shopfront activation (pre-event)
7.30pm – video premiere live stream event Donate to support Double Vanity on bandcamp( https://doublevanitymusic.bandcamp.com/ ) and The Burrow Underground via their website (https://www.burrowunderground.com/subscribe).
