Double Vanity
Melbourne-based three piece Double Vanity are all dim lighting, velvet curtains and crystal tears. Their arrival in 2020 transported listeners into a new world they labeled ‘airportwave’, capturing their nostalgic brand of analogue sad indie disco. Double Vanity were described by 4ZZZ as “synth crooners” with layered synths, swelling guitar and lush vocals meeting for a moment of textured overexposure and minimal pulsing rhythms.
New single Night Moves (May 2022) is described by vocalist Zec Zechner as “a trip into 2062, where a nuclear storm is endlessly roaring outside the window, and a single thirty-something A.I. House Bot in kitchen apron and platinum blonde hair is burning the dinner and swirling on the kitchen linoleum in the smoke with implanted memories of a long-lost dancefloor”. Trouble Juice called the single “a disorientating yet glamorous ride” while music blog Austin Town Hall claimed they were “drawn to the majesty”. The gloriously lush film clip by Melbourne luminary Geoffrey O’Connor finds the band in a dreamy, pink limo, champagne afterparty haze.
Alight the escalator into the skies for an automated trajectory to a brave new world, caught in an airportwave between the arrival and departure lounge.
Double Vanity will release their full-length album in September 2022 through Psychic Hysteria.
